If there’s any Korean beauty vlogger that I religiously follow and trust their opinion, it would be Ssinnim, Lamuqe, and Bambigirl for makeup; and Liah Yoo and Meejmuse for skin care. Though lately, I haven’t been catching up with their content, I almost always never missed their annual favorites and recommendation. Therefore, of course, I just have to try this La Roche Posay Uvidea XL Melt-in Tinted Cream SPF 50 PA ++++ UVA when mention that this is her Top 5 favorites from last year.
To be honest, I’m not really into tinted sunscreen for one reason or another. First, because I couldn’t tell if I have the recommended amount of sunscreen to protect my skin, second, I have A LOT of foundation/cushion to finish, to begin with, therefore I prefer to have separate sunscreen and foundation.
This is my second La Roche Posay product, and because so far any La Roche Posay product works just fine on my skin, I have this confidence that this product would work fine as well for me. It has BB cream consistency, thick, creamy, and easy to blend. I usually apply it the amount that I usually apply for sunscreen products because the texture is very thick.
If you’re a fan of light to medium coverage like me, you would probably love this product. It blends seamlessly, has dewy finish yet cover any redness and discoloration in my skin. Perhaps it wouldn’t be enough if you have fresh acne scars, but it’s something that a good concealer would do. It’s also almost scentless, which is always be a plus point for me.
However, if you have oily skin and if you live in a humid country like countries in South East Asia, you would probably don’t like its dewy finish because after a while it would be rather oily. Since I have dry skin, I don’t find it to be a problem. I could just use a tissue to blot any oils et, voila, oil be gone!
Is it enough to protect your skin? Well, since we see that this tinted sunscreen provide SPF 50 PA ++++ UVA, I think it is enough. It’s rare for me to burn my skin as well since I often work indoors, so I couldn’t judge how effective a sunscreen is. But, just in case, I would like to bring my UV Sunscreen Spray for sunscreen reapplication every two hours. Hmm. Should do this step for ANY sunscreen, though, not just this one, lol, my bad!!!
The only downside to this La Roche Posay Uvidea XL Melt-in Tinted Cream SPF 50 PA ++++ UVA is the fact that it couldn’t work well if I apply it together with J.One Jelly Pack. My complexion would be horrible if I put them together. Maybe their texture couldn’t blend together, I don’t know, but ever since that disaster, I always avoid to put them together.
Will I recommend this product to everyone? Of course! Especially if you prefer to have minimal makeup. However, for the reasons that I mentioned above, if I have the chance to repurchase it, maybe I will repurchase the not tinted one since I’d love to have separate foundation and sunscreen. However, for the price, which is around $20 if I’m not mistaken, is a pretty good deal for tinted sunscreen, while it’s pretty pricey for regular sunscreen, lol.
