I think, despite the fact that I often purchased Korean beauty products, I rarely become crazy about something from Korean brands. And this Korean brand called Hanyul, is definitely one of my favorites in terms of their skin care philosophy, brand image, and result. I personally think that Hanyul suited my personality the best.
Maybe you are not familiar with Hanyul nowadays. However, back on 2014, when Jun Ji Hyun, the Hanyul brand ambassador, acted on the famous K-drama, My Love From the Star, this brand, especially the Rice Essential Skin Softner instantly sold out everywhere because of the product placement in the drama, lol. Yeah, Jun Ji Hyun is just that pretty that everyone (me, included) rushing to purchase this particular product with hope to look as good as her (Oh, I wish!) 😆 . Nevertheless, with or without Jun Ji Hyun’s image, I personally think that every Hanyul product that I’ve tried work pretty well on me, and should I say, worth the hype.
Hanyul is also a brand from the giant cosmetic company, Amorepacific, that’s also the mother company to your favorite K-beauty brands, such as Sulwhasoo, Laneige, Etude House, Innisfree, IOPE, Mamonde, etc. I’ve read somewhere, if Sulwhasoo targeted their product for “queens” ; Hanyul targeted their product for “princesses” instead. Using similar philosophy with Sulwhasoo, Hanyul also used lots of traditional folk remedies and medicinal practices carried on for centuries by women in their homes. In combination with modern technologies and formulas, Hanyul is inspired by these mild, but effective remedies passed down from mothers to their children for generations. Their product made with the same traditional and local ingredients including Korean plants and grains such as rice, brown pine needles, artemesia, baekhwago (Korean mushroom) , Korean chrysanthemum, and their native seoritae (Korean bean).
Why I prefer Hanyul than Sulwhasoo? Well, first and foremost: I haven’t tried Sulwhasoo yet. So, I can’t really compare them. However, in terms of the their target market and price range, I think Hanyul is much more suitable for me, because Sulwhasoo is targeted for women >30, and Hanyul is more like for women under 30. I can’t say that I don’t need Sulwhasoo yet, however, for me, it’s just more realistic for me to repurchase Hanyul product rather than Sulwhasoo.
Okay, enough about the brand comparison! Let’s talk about their products!
First, of course we need to talk about my Holy Grail, Hanyul Optimizing Serum! Well, it’s just that good, you guys! Back then, I was pretty frustrated because none of expensive FTE deliver result on my skin. And then, bam! Within the first try, this product successfully made me fall in love with its result that made my skin smoother, plumper, and made every product that I layer afterwards to be more well absorbed. Fast forward to the present time, where I already tried a couple more first essence, I still could say that this Hanyul Optimizing Serum is still is definitely my HG First Essence! Will always recommend it to everybody, it is definitely worth the price. Major love!
Second, the most famous Rice Essential Skin Softner. Well, to be honest I have mixed feelings with this particular product because of the existence of alcohol and the strong fragrance in this bottle. I even didn’t see any spectacular result without the Optimizing Serum. However, though, if I combined it with the Optimizing Serum, they are definitely matched made in heaven. It definitely help my skin too look more plump and well hydrated if I use it together with the Optimizing Serum. I think now they already reformulated the ingredients, haven’t checked the details, though, but I hope they cut the alcohol and the fragrance, or at least use more natural scented fragrance!
Well, to be honest I’ve only tried two of Hanyul product so far. I initially want to purchase the artemisia line back in the middle of 2017, however, because there are a lot of problems regarding Indonesian’s custom for beauty products from overseas from last year, I decided not to purchased it yet, to avoid the risk of missing products. And Hanyul haven’t launched officially in Indonesia yet (hopefully soon without crazy markups!); so I couldn’t get their product easily locally.
If I was given a chance to try more of their product, their Baek Hwa Goh Vitalizing Care Ampoule, Brown Pine Leaves Optimizing Serum, Red Bean Peeling Toner, Pure Artemesia Watery Calming Fluid, White Chrysanthemum Serum, and Jacho Moist Glow Oil are definitely on my wishlist to try!
