When I was on a business trip sometimes last November, suddenly I realized that I’m running out of my trusted MOTE Liner. Dang! Since I would never go out without my cat-liners, of course I grab the most accessible liquid liner that I could trust on the city. My pick would be Maybelline eyeliners since as far as I remember, I used to find their gold cap one as a decent liner. So that would the first day where I use non-Japanese liners since probably a year ago, when I was able to stock up lots of Japanese liners from the country itself.

Not to brag or anything, at this point, where it’s been 5 years since I was started to learn how to draw eyeliner, I could say that it’s pretty easy for me to draw cat eye, hence the reason why I don’t need to find a specific applicator, as long as the eyeliner is liquid, not gel (it’s harder to create clean cat eye with gel liner, IMHO). Though I can’t lie there are days where my liners weren’t even, lol.
That being said, I don’t find that this tip brush is that innovative and helped me that much in order to create a clean liner. However, I do realize that the Maybelline Hypersharp line always come with pen brush applicator that would make me easily achieve clean cat liners, hence the reason why I purchased them in the first place. But, I don’t find that this Maybelline Eyestudio Hypersharp Wing Liner is any different with other Maybelline’s Hypersharp line.
I like the applicator, the depth and the pigmentation of the colour, and anything. However, the only downside is, this eyeliner is not that waterproof. Even after I use Urban Decay eye shadow base and set it with powder on top, it would smudge to the outer corner of my eye. Having trusted Japanese liners for this past year, of course I would notice this biggest difference. While I could trust my Japanese liners, especially the MOTE one on the smudgeproof and waterproof aspect; sadly, this Maybelline Eyestudio Hypersharp Wing Liner is not going to make the cut.
Well, it’s save to say that this is an ‘okay’ eyeliner to me. If I have a stock full of Japanese eyeliners, I won’t repurchase it. However, if I urgently need liquid liner and there are no Japanese eyeliner option in the market, I would instantly purchase this one. If you used to the hassle of retouching your make up through out the day and wouldn’t mind to clean up a little smudging eyeliner at the end of the day, this is a pretty good affordable drugstore option for you.
