[REVIEW] Sunday Riley Sunday School Skincare Set

IMG_4018

Sunday Riley is one of the brand that I’m really curious to venture yet always hesitant to try because of the really high price tag. Especially when the Good Genes sample was one of the culprit of my dehydration days two years ago. But I’m not put the product into the “bad bin”, because I also know that I didn’t understand the concept of skin care steps, what sort ingredients that will clash with each other, and what to prepare before I jump into the world of chemical exfoliation.

And afterwards, Sunday Riley keep releasing new products that really made me interested, especially the C.E.O line, their U.F.O line, and the oils. But still, I’m really curious to re-try the highly acclaimed, loved by everyone, Sunday Riley Good Genes. Especially when I think I’m ready to step up from The Ordinary Lactic Acid, and I guess I already have enough “experience” to add a higher percentage of chemical exfoliation in my routine. Finally, I decided to purchased Sunday Riley Sunday School Skincare Set that I included on my haul a few months back.

1. Good Genes All-In-One Lactic Acid Treatment

The product that I continuously mentioned above. The first time I use it again, well, yeah, it stings. But I already take precaution to put it after layers of hydration to “prepare” my skin for the real deal because AHA/BHA meant to be putted into the skin directly before anything. I’m still afraid to use it that way, but, after I step up my game a wee bit and put the product forward after hydrating toner and FTE, especially if I use it together with Luna Oil, I can see a massive difference with my skin. It looked more plump, fine lines went a bit smoother (well, yeah, I’m an expressive person, sooo 😥 ), and small bumps quickly went away. Do I use it on daily basis, well no, maybe just once a week or once per two weeks because I’m still afraid to over exfoliate my skin. However, I can understand the hype, and would use it if I need an instant good skin for an important day! 🙂

2. C.E.O. C + E antiOXIDANT Protect + Repair Moisturizer

Knowing that Vitamin C barely works if it get exposed to the sun, I was a bit skeptical about this product. Will it be just like another moisturizer in the market? Well, the first time I put it on my skin, I love the scent. It’s like putting some citrusy orange juice into my skin, so refreshing! The formulation itself is more on the light side. But surprisingly, it was enough for my dry skin. It’s lightweight and I think it would be loved by oily skin gals for summer. Is it working to lighten my acne scar? Well, I don’t think so, but I think it’s still a great antioxidant moisturizer for the skin.

3. Luna Sleeping Night Oil

There are a lot controversy surrounding this oil because of the blue dye added in the ingredients. Sunday Riley herself already stated that she insisted to add the dye in order to avoid anyone to put the oil on day time. I never find it to be troublesome, to be honest, because the blue dye disappears instantly if we spread it into the skin anyway. However, I’m surprised that from the entire product from the Sunday School Set, this oil is my ultimate favorite. It’s just that good and I’m considering to try another retinol based oil because of this. Since I already love oils to begin with, I can see that this oil really works for anti ageing. If anyone want to try anti ageing product, I think this product is a good investment for you!

4. C.E.O. C + E Micro-Dissolve Cleansing Oil

I initially thought that I would get the C.E.O Vitamin C serum from the package, not this cleansing oil. Disappointed with the fact, I don’t really interested with this cleansing oil. Especially when not all cleansing oil works for my skin, since I prefer cleansing balm. However, I found that my skin also love this cleansing oil. My skin never broke out from this cleansing oil. It works pretty well to remove basic makeup, smells descent, and pretty lightweight. Is it worth the price? Well, eh, I don’t think so. I think DHC Cleansing Oil works similar if not better from this oil.

Nevertheless, all in all, I think there is no bad product from the whole package of Sunday Riley Sunday School Skincare Set. But if I had the budget, I think I will only repurchase the Luna Sleeping Night Oil because it’s just that good. Why not the Good Genes? Well, because I think I will only emptying the sample size after 5 or 6 months, lol, that’s how I’m scared with chemical exfoliating product. As for the C.E.O Moisturizer and Oil, I think I can have a better replacement with a much more affordable price than them.

  1. I have also been hesitant to try Sunday Riley because of the price. I didn’t know this kit existed. Nice to know the products sound really nice. I have used the Good Genes sample and I only dare to try it a few times a week too. I quite enjoy it as well. 🙂

    1. Yeah, they have a few kit available filled with sample sizes for us to try! 😀 I think it’s a good deal since we don’t have to throw out so much money in order to try products that we don’t know yet if it will work out for our skin or not 😉
