[REVIEW] Goodness Certified Chia Seed Oil

IMG_4078

Truthfully, I got this oil because one of my favorite skincare blogger said that it’s a pretty good oil, lol. Since she loves Trilogy Rosehip Oil as much as I do, and I noticed that she has dry skin oil, I trust her judgement and decided to give this a try . 😆 I’ve never been interested in Goodness product before, though, even if they appear constantly in my Instagram feed especially in 2015-2016.

Turns out chia is not only a healthy superfood. Squeezing the bejesus outta these little seeds produces a light-weight mega-omega super-oil for your skin.

Ours are grown organically from all over Central certified bioAmerica. Hola! We press the seeds (solvent-free) to get the oil. It takes 1kg of chia seeds to produce 250ml of chia seed oil. The remaining husks are used as animal feed (lucky cows).

Why’s it so good? So our body is really good at making stuff, but it can’t make essential fatty acids, omega 3 and omega 6. Chia seeds happen to be one of nature’s richest sources of omega 3. We get loads of omega 6. But omega 3 is trickier to sort out. Here’s where we’re heading…

Chia has the perfect 3:1 ratio of omega 3 to omega 6 essential fatty acids. BOOM!

Chia seed oil is the bees knees, the A student, the red carpet gown of plant oils for your skin. A couple of drops a few times a day sorts out essential fatty acids, minerals, B-vitamins, amino acids, antioxidants and general goodness for your skin.

Using chia seed oil means you’re giving your skin all it needs to do what it’s designed to do – making you look awesome plus keeping your insides infection free and in the right place.

What does it look like?
A very pale yellow colour.

What’s it smell like?
Lightly earthy and nutty – but not like that herbal shop down the road. It’s mild and pleasant, vanishing as soon as you put it on.

What does it feel like?
Lightweight and slippery. It’s super-slick to apply – it doesn’t sit on the skin; basically your skin gobbles it up.

How do I use it?
Well, first, clean your face. Then pat on a few drops. Next, put on your moisturiser … or apply make-up … or go to bed … or drop the kids off at school … or read a book … or go kite-surfing … you get the drift.

When to use it?
Whenever you like. We reckon the usual day and night is pretty good. But feel free to splash out and use it again at 12.50pm, after your lunchtime bike ride.

Who can use it?
Anyone and everyone. It doesn’t clog pores. And it’s great for combo skin types.

Ingredients INCI: Salvia Hispanica (Chia) Seed Oil, Limnanthes Alba (Meadowfoam) Seed Oil

I just realized that the Goodness Certified Chia Seed Oil is the “mother” to every Goodness product since they put this oil on every product that they have. So, it should be that powerful isn’t it? Especially when we read its description….

However though, I lower my expectation because the Trilogy Rosehip Oil is just too good to be true, I would say. So, I don’t expect that this oil will do exceptional things within a short time. But since every skin care bloggers swears by oils in general, I just know that its nutritious ingredients will benefits my skin anyway.

The oil has pale yellow colour, with a subtle nutty scent. I’m not bothered by it since its a natural scent, nevertheless I think this is probably a plus point if you can’t stand Rosehip Oil fishy scent. The oil is easily absorbed to the skin and locked your hydration perfectly. It will help to locked your previous layer of skin care, avoid it to seeped away, especially if you often use air conditioner like me.

Honestly speaking, I don’t see any direct benefit or result from this Goodness Certified Chia Seed Oil other than its ability to locked my previous layer of skincare. But I appreciate that this oil didn’t broke me out. It could be that I didn’t really noticed its benefits because my whole routine already focusing on hydration and acne prevention.

Well, maybe as they describe it on their website:

Using chia seed oil means you’re giving your skin all it needs to do what it’s designed to do – making you look awesome plus keeping your insides infection free and in the right place.

So… hopefully my skin is already in the right place? Lol.

Well, I think I shouldn’t expect this oil to reduce blemishes, since it’s not the main purposes of the oil. But I can see that the oil do its job: to balanced my skin condition. Will I repurchase it? Well, I don’t have that oh-my-god-I’m-crazy-for-this-product vibe yet with this Goodness Certified Chia Seed Oil. So it’s a solid maybe. However, if it turned out that when I finished this product I felt something missing, then, there’s a high chance that I would repurchase this product. So, stay tune to my next Empties Report, okay?

Will I recommend this product? Since I already see the benefits of oils on my routine, of course. Any oil that didn’t broke you out and suit your skin will do you good since its high in nutrition. But, in my current opinion, it’s just not as good as the Trilogy Rosehip Oil.
