[REVIEW] Glossier Coconut Balm Dotcom

Glossier is probably one of the “It Brand” in beauty industry right now. I initially want to try their Milky Jelly Cleanser and Super Pure Serum first, but as the place where I usually buy my western skin care brand currently out of stock of both of those, I decided to buy this one: Glossier Coconut Balm Dotcom, just in time when I was running out of the NUXE Rêve de Miel Lip Balm! So, what’s the deal with Glossier’s lip balm? Why everyone seems to talk about it?

A hydrating, long-lasting, multipurpose lip and skin salve that’s packed with antioxidants and natural emollients to nourish and repair dry, chafed skin. The dense, waxy texture stays in place to seal in moisture wherever it goes. Opt for Original, or choose from four mood-enhancing flavors: Rose (with a barely-there pink tint), Cherry (with a sheer, juicy red tint), Mint, and Coconut. The lip-smacking, 11-year-old in you is freaking out right now. Collect them all!

Key Ingredients:
Coconut Fragrance
Smells like vacation: coconut, after-sun lotion, and warm sand.

Castor Seed Oil
A natural plant extract, the thick emollient has unique water-binding properties that keep moisture locked in.

A natural emollient which acts as a protective barrier.

Cupuacu Fruit Extract
An organic, long-lasting moisturizer with Omega-6 and Omega-9 fatty acids that melts into skin on contact.

Rice Bran & Rosemary Leaf Extracts
Antioxidants to combat free-radical skin damage.

Coconut Balm Dotcom Ingredients: Petrolatum, Ricinus Communis (Castor) Seed Oil, Beeswax/Cera Alba/Cire D’Abeille, Lanolin, Theobroma Grandiflorum Seed Butter, Dipalmithoyl Hydroxyproline, Parfum/Fragrance, Oryza Sativa (Rice) Bran Extract, Tocopheryl Acetate, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Extract, Tocopherol, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Extract, Benzyl Benzoate

This Glossier Coconut Balm Dotcom reminds me a lot of the famous NUXE Rêve de Miel. The beeswax texture, the thickness, and its longevity to keep lips moisturized through out the day reminds me exactly like the NUXE one. However, probably because I choose the coconut scented one, the scent quite overpowering and artificial for my fragrance-sensitive-nose at first. I definitely prefer NUXE’s natural honey scent, but I get used to the coconut scent after a while.

As I’ve said before, the thick texture of this beeswax-based lip balm definitely comparable to NUXE Rêve de Miel. It’s not always convenient to put lipstick over these kind of product, nevertheless I found that both NUXE and Glossier lip balm still works well at moisturizing your lips for a long time even when you blotted it to make lipstick application to be more smooth. Just make sure that you leave it for at least 30 minutes before you blot it.

Compared to another lip balm in the market, I found that this Glossier Coconut Balm Dotcom help to moisturized your lips through out the day if you don’t have big meals. Because trust me, there are literally tons of lip balm that will dry out after a while even if you didn’t put lipstick, drink, or eat through out the day.

So, overall this Glossier Coconut Balm Dotcom definitely worth the hype and definitely comparable with the famous NUXE Rêve de Miel. On the plus side, this balm has super chic packaging (kudos to all of Glossier’s branding and marketing team!) and this balm is definitely more travel-friendly rather than the NUXE Rêve de Miel that comes with a tube packaging. So, it will be easier to throw it in your purse to reapply through out the day!

At the same amount, 15ml, I don’t think that this Glossier lip balm is the dupe to NUXE Rêve de Miel as both of them have similar price range, but it’s a good alternative if you couldn’t get the NUXE Rêve de Miel in your country or if you want to have lip balm with fancier scents as Glossier provide various scents of this lip balm such as Cherry and Mint as well. Plus, if you love tinted lip balms, this Glossier Coconut Balm Dotcom and any of Glossier scented balm are in fact tinted lip balm, so it will be convenient through out the day if you’re just way too lazy to touch up your lipstick in the midday.

I definitely will repurchase it, probably in other scents, and if you have chapped and dry lips, I’m pretty sure that you will love this one, recommended!
