[REVIEW] FANCL Facial Washing Powder

When I was doing research of what I should buy in Japanese drugstore, almost everyone mentioned this FANCL Facial Washing Powder, alongside the Suisai Beauty Clear Powder. Actually they also recommend the FANCL Cleansing Oil, but I decided that trying the highly appraised DHC Cleansing Oil is enough, since back then cleansing oil barely works on me, so I don’t want to spend too much money on that department.

And then I found out that one of local beauty blogger that have similar skin types to me loves this FANCL Facial Washing Powder. Of course, I just have to try this cleanser. Besides, I’ve never tried any powder cleanser before, so I was more intrigued in trying this powder cleanser.

This cleanser has this powder form (obviously) that easily transform into dense, bouncy foam especially if we use foaming net or FANCL Foaming Ball. And after tons of research here and there, I just realised that I got the new 2016 version of the cleanser, because I noticed that the old differentiate the facial cleanser to be two different types of cleanser, the <I> one for normal to oily skin, and the <II> version for dry and sensitive skin; while this new version clearly doesn’t have <I> or <II> marks on the packaging.

However, I think this cleanser might be way too drying for my skin, as it always give me those squeaky clean feeling whenever I use it. And if I use it for more than two consecutive days, it will break me out, signs of dehydration in my skin.

At first I thought that the cleanser had high pH, that is why I was surprised that it had low pH when I tested it with my newly bought cheap pH strip, somewhere between pH 5.0 to 5.5. The time when I was search for the ingredients list for this review purposes, though, I *just* realised that this cleanser contains some form of SLS — Sodium Cocoyl/Palmoyl/Sunfloweroyl Glutamate,Sodium Lauroyl Glutamate and Sodium Lauroyl Aspartate.*)  So that might be the suspect to the squeaky clean effect.

This is why I should put more attention to the ingredients list before I bought things, not just for review purposes *sigh*  😥

Moreover, I feel like the powder form, that intended to be a daily exfoliator, seems to be way too harsh for my skin for daily usage. I was totally fine if I just use it like one to two times per week, but, with the 60 days fresh period, I don’t think that I could finish this product before it’s gone bad. That is why I ended up using it as body soap, lol. 😆

So, in the end, I don’t think that I would repurchase this product in near future. I even scared to try the Suisai Beauty Clear Powder since they both shares a lot of similarities, lol. I haven’t try the old FANCL Facial Washing Powder ver. <II> that supposed to be for sensitive skin, though, so I don’t have any idea if this new version is better or not for sensitive skin. Please do kindly enlighten me in the comment section bellow if you have tried the old version! 🙂

*) I am not by any means an expert on this matter, since this was based on my brief search of various SLS form, but please do correct me if I’m wrong here.
