Hello! Back with me with another foundation review :-).
If you’re following Korean Beauty Vloggers (Just like what I did), I’m pretty sure you will know about this particular foundation; or at least heard about it. So, apparently, this KATE Powderless Liquid Foundation receive a lot of praises from them, especially if you prefer matte finish for your base make up.
If you’re not familiar, KATE is the sister brand to Japanese brand KANEBO. You see, kinda similar to Majolica Majorca and Shiseido, or Sulwhasoo and Etude House. Honestly I’ve never try KANEBO product myself, and if I’ve never heard about the raves towards this particular foundation, I would never touch this brand, as to what I did during my first trip to Japan, lol.
Truthfully, when I was picking up this foundation in Japanese Drug Store a while ago, I was pretty confused to choose this or the famous Koh Gen Do Aqua Foundation. At first, I want to buy both of them,
being the completely hoarder that I am. However, because it’s difficult for me to find Koh Gen Do‘s tester products, and I’m afraid that I would choose the wrong shade especially since it’s not a cheap foundation, I choose the KATE one instead. Even though, I would say that I would much prefer Koh Gen Do’s finish, because I’m not a fan of matte finish to begin with.
And that was what exactly happened during my first application. The thing that I’m afraid the most from powdery foundation happened: it’s not blend well to my skin, it separates, and it crackes. Oh well.
However, because I hate to wasting up products, I was trying to find a way to make this foundation works. I tried to use dampened beauty blender to apply it, but it didn’t work, the foundation still separating. Tried to mix it with the Espoir foundation, didn’t work as well.
And someday, I had this idea to use my Daiso latex sponge that I rarely use and spritz it with Laneige Water Bank Face Mist, and OH MY GOD! Finally! It worked! The foundation blends really well with this method, plus, the face mist add up moisture to my skin. Double YAY!
For the coverage tho, please, don’t expect this foundation to cover up your imperfection. I don’t know if it’s because I use the dampened-latex-sponge method or not, but as you can see on the picture above, it gives a really sheer coverage, but it does help to tone up and even out your skin tone. The finish and everything reminds me a lot to Bourjois’ Nude Sensation Foundation.
That being said, this foundation is definitely not my preferable finish. Nevertheless, I would still use it with the dampened-latex-sponge method, I love it that it’s not make my skin even more dry in the mid-day and never oxidize! Overall, I would give it 3.5/5. I would highly suggest oily skin girls to try out this KATE Powderless Foundation. 🙂
